NAIFA Leadership Newsletter November 2018
Membership Update

Special Webinar Held for NAIFA Members

We held a special webinar for all members & non-members on November 6th entitled "Elect to Be a Member". With so much change during midterm elections, the fact that membership is voluntary and fewer companies cover dues, we must acknowledge that individuals are truly electing to become a member and voting with their dollars. If you didn't attend the webinar with Jill Judd, Kevin Mayeux and Diane Boyle, we encourage you to spend 30 minutes reviewing it and then including the link within your own newsletters, website and communications to both prospects and members. While we promoted the webinar to the entire membership, we only had slightly over 100 people join. Please help us get the word out and post this webinar on email, social, etc.

Renewal Season is Here..All Hands on Deck

On December 31, 70% of annual payers are up for renewal. Renewal notices, including a letter from NAIFA President Jill Judd, were mailed to all members with dues expiring December 31, 2018. Additionally, telemarketing has started to reach out to all December renewals to renew as many people as possible via the phone.

As a reminder, we are migrating annual-paying members expiring 12/31 or later in chapters that will be dissolving to their state at-large chapter so dues collected for these members will be remitted to the state on a 60/40 basis. Members paying monthly will remain in their current chapter until we process the December monthly draft.

We need your help on renewals & will send you lists of who has not renewed with a December 31st expiration date to you in early December to ask for your insight & help in renewing as many people as possible.

Prospect Lists

As promised, early December will find you receiving any prospects that NAIFA National has in our database in Excel format so that we can jointly work on bringing in new members. The December Leader webinar will go through understanding the data.

Shifting Numbers During Change

Our membership numbers are a bit haywire at present as we undergo these changes. In addition to the changes in locals, last month we officially lapsed the Advocacy members who were granted membership status by the NAIFA Board through 12/31/2018 in recognition for their monthly contributions to IFAPAC. We have sent an email campaign from Dennis Cuccinelli to try and bring as many back into full membership as possible. Our plan is to take a clean cut of data on January 1, 2019 to establish baseline numbers for the year and outline a clear reporting process for members & prospects.

NAIFA 2020 Implementation
You Need to Know:
The NAIFA 20/20 Implementation Handbook & Plan

The NAIFA 20/20 Implementation Handbook is your guide to navigating the changes, whether you are dissolving your local associations who are becoming affiliates, or looking for ideas on engaging your members in the future. Please check regularly for updates, and note the following deadlines:

State Chapter Agreements were due on October 30. If you haven’t already done so, please return your state’s signed agreement.

Paperwork for local dissolutions/mergers was due October 30. If you haven't already done so, please begin working on dissolutions of future local affiliates. More information and guidance on mergers and dissolutions can be found here

In addition to these resources, the Implementation Task Force has been hosting a webinar series (October-December) to help leaders prepare for NAIFA 20/20 implementation. These webinars cover everything from communications to advocacy to everything in between. There is still one webinar left!

National Membership Day 2019

Thank you again for your support of National Membership Day when we turned to social to post our stories and our #NAIFA pride! Please continue to post your stories from members, images of your events and other NAIFA programs & tagging using #NAIFAproud. We will continue to repost & grow our social media followers to better spread our message.

National Membership Day for 2019 has been moved to coincide with Congressional Conference in May. With NAIFA 20/20 implementation, we decided to move the day later in the year so that we can capitalize and concentrate our efforts during ConCon.

Member Experience Improvements

Join and Renew Online Processes
Love the current online renewal process? Love how easy it is to join NAIFA online? We know, no one does. One of the current initiatives is to streamline both the new join process and the renewal process. New ways to handle this will go live in December and stay in place as an interim while the new association management system is being implemented.

New Brand Project
The new brand project with partner Siddall Communications kicked off and is well underway. Be prepared for possible interview requests and survey requests.

P+P 2019 Planning Underway!
The 2019 P+P Planning Committee met while at the National Advocacy Meeting to review 2018 feedback & start to plan the program. One item we got stuck on is the main stage speakers & what kinds of speakers you'd really want. We'd like your feedback & will send a survey in the next week to ask for your ideas and preferences on what type of speaker would provide the most value.
