What consumer safeguards have evolved to give the advisor a new level of comfort?
What research supports the inclusion of a housing wealth discussion in retirement planning?
How can housing wealth prepare for volatility in retirement years?
How can housing wealth provide limited and/or extended care?

NAIFA Board Amends NAIFA National Bylaws As reported in the Feb. 6, Leadership Action Alert, at its January 2019 meeting, the NAIFA Board of Trustees adopted two administrative amendments to the new NAIFA National Bylaws. First, the Board added a new provision (Article X, Section 8), to acknowledge NAIFA’s ability to create a professional certification program and to establish a Certification Commission to oversee the program. NAIFA state chapter leaders approved this language for NAIFA’s former bylaws in summer 2018 and the Board’s amendment continues the certification program recognition in NAIFA’s new bylaws. Second, to better align with the new National calendar fiscal and leadership years, the Board adjusted the deadlines for the Governance Committee to announce Board candidates, to at least 60 days before an annual meeting, and the disclosure of floor candidate nominations, to at least 30 days before an annual meeting (Article XIV, Sections 4, 5). The new national bylaws authorize the NAIFA Board to adopt amendments by majority vote of the Board, provided timely notice of such amendments is sent to chapter Presidents (Article XVIII, Sections 3, 4). You can access the amended NAIFA Bylaws here.
NAIFA Board Accepts Financial Statements As reported in the Feb. 6, Leadership Action Alert, NAIFA’s audited financial statements for the fiscal year ending August 31, 2018 have been accepted by the Board of Trustees, and are available on the NAIFA website here.
