NAIFA Goes to Treasury to Assist with LTCI Policy Recommendations

NAIFA is the only group representing insurance agents and advisors selected to participate in the July 25th Federal Interagency Task Force on Long-Term Care Insurance meeting. The purpose of the task force, according to a Treasury report, is to propose federal policies to work alongside state-level reforms to “stabilize and potentially regrow the private long-term care insurance market” and to address the costs of providing long-term care.

NAIFA Trustee Connie Golleher and Senior Vice President for Government Relations Diane Boyle represented insurance professionals and actively participated in the policy discussion covering the social need for long-term supports and services, the individual private LTCI market, employer, group, and worksite products, state regulation of LTCI, the federal government and LTCI, and federal-state partnerships and other financing approaches.   

The Task Force has requested written comments by August 30 on potential reforms to federal laws, regulations, and policies to complement initiatives at the state level relating to the regulation of long-term care insurance. NAIFA will submit written comments encouraging a broad array of solutions to increase coverage opportunities that fit individual and family needs.
