Preparing for Renewal Season On December 31, 70% of annual payers are up for renewal. Renewal notices, including a letter from NAIFA President Jill Judd, will be mailed early next week. Our team has been busy preparing the NAIFA database for the post-QME unified dues structure. Part of that process includes migrating annual-paying members expiring 12/31 or later in chapters that will be dissolving to their state at-large chapter so dues collected for these members will be remitted to the state on a 60/40 basis. Members paying monthly will remain in their current chapter until we process the December monthly draft.
We also will be "lapsing" the Advocacy members who were granted membership status by the NAIFA Board through 12/31/2018 in recognition for their monthly contributions to IFAPAC. These members will show up as lapsed members in the Online Service Center beginning later this week. We encourage you to reach out to these Advocacy members to sign them up as dues paying members before 12/31.
Looking Up! The numbers have been showing you are working hard! Check out the states who are in the black for membership since the beginning of the 7/1 membership year!

Top Five Recruiting States Congratulations to Florida (43), California (30), Texas (27), New Jersey (22) and North Carolina (21) for recruiting the most new members since 7/1!

National Membership Day Wrap Up
National Membership Day + #NAIFAproud = Success
We asked and you responded. Thank you for all who shared your story October 4! We loved the likes, shares, retweets and overall NAIFA love during National Membership Day and are excited to keep growing. Let’s talk ROI: for our low cost of staff hours and a few online photos, we were able to gain:
More than 100 new followers
More than 13,000 impressions on Twitter
Nearly 300 engagements on LinkedIn
More than 10,000 page views on our website
More than 500 likes and loves on Facebook and Instagram
Phishing Expedition With the change in officers, comes a new opportunity for thieves to try to spoof our new treasurers into sending money to a vendor, apparently at the request of the association president. NAIFA is aware of at least two such email spoofs among our state and local chapters within the last two months.
Steps your association can take:
Instead of listing the individual email address of each officer on the website, only include the chapter’s main email address.
Alternatively, have a contact form that is completed and submitted to chapter management for distribution to the appropriate officer.
Look at the email header to make sure the president’s email address hasn’t been spoofed.
If such an email comes into an officer, or staff…do not reply to it. Forward the email to the officer that is supposedly making the request for clarification or pick up the phone.
Be on your guard.
Leadership Resources
We are communicating a LOT of information each month in this newsletter and through leadership debrief webinars. We know you can't always engage in these communications real time, so we've created a Leadership page where we will archive all of the Leadership Newsletters and Webinars so you can access them on demand.
We are hosting monthly leadership webinars where we will share what's new at NAIFA so you can hear it first.

Advisor Ambassador Program Update
This month, NAIFA kicked of the Advisor Ambassador Program, a new initiative offering a free four week online course designed for prospective members. The goals of this program are to increase the awareness of NAIFA, to create and develop qualified leads for membership and to promote our members as industry experts and leaders. By offering participants a piece of NAIFA for free, they are more likely to buy (aka join) in the future. At the end of the four weeks, a member of our staff will ask the participants to join NAIFA.
During the course, four NAIFA YAT members (ambassadors) will each share their story on a specific topic and tie it back to how NAIFA has helped them in their practice. Each month, the four weekly topics remain the same, while the speakers will change.
The topics for each week are:
Week 1 “Learn Exceptional Prospecting Practices”
Week 2 “Build Your Professional Network of Mentors and Industry Colleagues”
Week 3 “Be a Playmaker in the Financial Services Industry”
Week 4 “Optimize Your Time and Cash Flow”
Members of the National YAT Committee developed the topics based on what they felt were “hot topics” for new advisors. BUT…the program does not stop with the webinars! Each participant completes a profile and joins a Facebook group for their class. This allows the participants and ambassadors to “continue the conversation” after each session and continually engage the prospective members.
Who in your state has recruitment written all over their face? You know there is that one person you always can count on as the NAIFA Cheerleader bringing in the newbies. Well, it’s time to nominate that person to be recognized as part of our “Member of the Week” on the NAIFA Solutions Center.
